Primary School Visits

Ian MacDonald provides an exciting whole day experience for primary schools. Previously a deputy head in a
large primary school, Ian provides a day to inspire children of all abilities (especially boys!) across the whole
primary age range.

Ideal for books weeks, special reading ‘focus’ weeks or

when you just want to inspire your young readers and writers.

A ‘typical’ primary school day…

A presentation (to KS2) telling the ‘story of a book’ from ideas and writing to illustrations and publishing – with on-screen images and lots of interaction!
KS1 Storytime with Spike the Dinosaur, who sits in on his very own story!
Workshops across the age range. Lots of fun… but genuine teaching and learning from a real live author!

Writer in Residence

To really see results in writing, Ian is available for longer term ‘residency’ projects spread over two or more days.

Story Project
Using one of his own stories as a model for writing, Ian shows children how to plan and write a complete story… including ‘publishing’ their own book.
